Sunset at Sossusvlei

One of the most spectactular sand dunes in the world lies along the Atlantic coastline of Namibia, in southwestern Africa. This photograph was taken at sunset near Sossusvlei in the Namid Desert. The best time to photograph the dunes is at sunrise and at sunset. This is the time of day when the dunes transform from a tan color to brilliant hues of orange, and cast artistic shadows down from their curving ridgelines. In this region it is common to see gemsbok, ostrich and jackal.
