Animals and Autism
This morning I read a very interesting article in the May 23, 2007 issue of "People Magazine," about a boy who has autism and a deep connection with animals. It turns out that many autistic kids have a deep affinity for animals. Although I could not find the "People" article online, I did find a nice article by Eugene Richards, who was the photographer for this story. You can read Mr. Richard's article at: www.viiphoto.com/detail-story.php?news_id=592 We receive lots of stories from our customers about how their children love our African Safari DVD. One of my favorites is from a mom whose son has autism. One day she found her boy watching our DVD by himself. Whenever an animal's name appeared on the screen, he would pause the DVD player and write the name of the animal on a piece of paper. He did this for all fifty animals. What amazed his mother was that her son never likes to write. During another viewing of the DVD. This same boy paused the DVD and drew pictures of the animals. We love to hear your stories, so please keep them coming.
